DEFINITIONS

CORONOVIRUS

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that usually cause respiratory infections, the severity of which varies between humans and animals. It is estimated that about one-third of upper respiratory tract infections in humans can be caused by coronaviruses. The corona SARS - CoV-2 is a strain that is isolated from humans for the first time.

Based on available epidemiological data, it appears that the corona SARS - CoV-2 is most likely transmitted from person to person through droplets excreted by a sick person, through coughing or sneezing, or by direct or indirect contact with respiratory secretions (ie through infected hands). . The incubation time of the disease is estimated at 2-14 days with an average incubation time of 5 days.

According to the World Health Organization, the SARS-CoV-2 virus can survive on surfaces from a few hours to several days and depends on a variety of environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) and the type of surface (metal, wood, paper, glass, plastic, etc.). Due to the possible survival of the virus in the environment, our property considers it necessary to provide instructions and guidelines for taking rehabilitation measures (hygiene, cleanliness and disinfection of businesses).

WAYS OF TRANSMISSION

Transmission is thought to occur mainly through respiratory droplets from sneezing, coughing or exhaling, or when people interact with each other for some time at close range (usually less than a meter). These droplets can then be inhaled or to land on surfaces that may come in contact with others, which can then become infected when they touch their nose, mouth or eyes. If we touch infected surfaces and then touch our mouth, nose or eyes.

From human to human if we inhale the droplets that are secreted when someone infected with the virus coughs or sneezes

SYMPTOMS OF INFECTION

The main symptoms of the disease include the following:

- Fever, - Cough,

- Pharyngalgia, - Arthralgias,

- Myalgias,

- Breathing difficulty

MEANS OF PERSONAL PROTECTION

Personal Protective Equipment (hereinafter PPE): mask (simple surgery or cloth / fabric), disposable gloves etc.

PROTECTION MEASURES

Hygiene of hands, use of antiseptics, avoidance of handshakes, observance of physical distances, avoidance of hand contact with the face and general observance of personal and respiratory hygiene measures.

1. The Lefkada Hospital is called to evaluate the incident.

2. If the patient has an urgent need for hospitalization, presents a serious clinical picture, he is transferred to the Lefkada Hospital, as a suspected case of COVID-19.

3. If the patient has a mild clinical picture, he is transferred to the Lefkada Hospital for a laboratory confirmation of COVID.

4. If the incident is assessed as a possible COVID-19, the hotel manager communicates IMMEDIATELY with EODY at 210 5212054 or the special four-digit number 1135 (24 hours a day), for a statement of the suspected case and instructions for dealing with it.

5. The patient with a mild clinical picture, if possible, remains in his room until the results of the laboratory test are announced.

6. During the above waiting period, the entry of staff into the patient's room is avoided, if there is no significant reason.

7. The hotel staff who enter the suspect's room in the later confirmed case must use high-protection personal protective equipment (PPE) (masks, goggles, waterproof disposable robes). The same applies to staff cleaning the COVID-19 patient room.

8. If confirmed as a case of COVID, it is transferred to the special quarantine hotel and later to a health facility that will accommodate patients with COVID-19 if they need treatment. If it is not confirmed as a COVID-19 case, it is treated at the hotel with the instructions of the Lefkada Hospital.

9. The patient is transported with PPE by private means of transport.

If there is a companion of the patient, who wishes to stay close to him to take care of him (eg spouse), he should be given a simple surgical mask and advised to wash his hands every time he comes in contact with secretions of the patient (eg saliva) and definitely before the attendant touches his face or eats or drinks.

11. The contact details of the patient's relative should always be recorded if consent is required for interventions where the patient cannot communicate.
